For the second year in a row, The Movement Playground will be traveling to Bucknell University to create a new work with the students of the Dance Department at Bucknell as well as research movement for the company's newest work "until innocence". The Movement Playground will also be teaching master classes and workshops for composition, contemporary and modern techniques and jazz dance.
INSITU is a unique, two-day site-specific dance festival presented on four LIC waterfront parks. Through free outdoor dance performances and a month-long community dance workshop, INSITU encourages neighborhood residents and visitors to discover LIC through dance and strengthen community bonds. INSITU presents original dance works by 20 national and international choreographers created in response to specific sites within the parks, setting up a chain of dynamic dance performances that lead audiences up and down the Western Queens waterfront from Socrates to Hunters Point South. We'll be revisiting one of our older works for this exciting show at Dixon Place! We'll be revisiting "a cønversation on drowning" and expanding it to present "the wørld ends with you", a collage of dark vignettes that collide into an ominous world where the lines between what is and what was are blurred.

Thank you to Chelsea Ainsworth, one of the founders of Arts On Site, for the invite to perform at Arts On Site monthly Performance Party! Mallory and I performed "what would become of us" one last time and we had a blast performing to a packed studio full of generous members from the audience.
"what would become of us" performed as a part of Peridance's Bi-Annual APEX Showcase, showing works by faculty, students and outside choreographers. We had a great time performing to a full house and we're glad we got to share our moves with the Peridance community!
Starting off 2018 right with another educational creative residency at West Chester University in Pennsylvania! We will be setting "this is the city of spare parts" with a wonderful cast of ladies from West Chester's dance department and are excited to share some Movement Playground rep as well as Improvisation and Contemporary movement sessions as part of our residency.
The Movement Playground will be presenting their newest work "as i slowly spiral into/out of control" at The Warsaw as a part of RAW Artist's ENVISION. Super excited to share the space with visual artists, musicians, and other talented performance artists. Come out and support!

In another effort to collaborate with the amazing organization that is The Creators Collective, we're performing a new solo work entitled "thoughts on air" at Haylard's Bar as a part of CC x Airbnb - an evening in which emerging Brooklyn artists take the space and transform it into an artistic experience where a dialogue between performer and audience can begin.

The Movement Playground is excited to announce their first creative residency! Bucknell University invited The Movement Playground to it's campus to develop a new work with their dance students. Truth in Motion is a festival created to allow choreographers to respond to this unique time. Each night will present different choreographers wishing to use their platform as an artist to make a statement about the world around them in a positive light. Presented at The Tank, The Movement Playground will be showcasing a new solo work, "collected things", August 26th at 7pm!
The Movement Playground will present an excerpt of an evening length work in progress "the world ends with yøu". This new work will explore three narratives which intertwine and collapse in a new exploration of an older piece of repertoire, "a cønversation on drowning".
